Imam al-Tirmidhī’s Al-Shamāʾil al-Muḥammadiyya is among the most beloved works ever authored about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Comprising over four hundred narrations, it presents a detailed and intimate portrait of the Prophet’s physical appearance, character, habits, worship, and inner state. For centuries, scholars and students have returned to this work to know the Prophet ﷺ not only through law and instruction, but through closeness, love, and lived example.
Beginning January 21, 2026, IGP will be offering a complete, cover-to-cover study of the Shamāʾil in a structured, multi-month weekly live online course consisting of 20 sessions.

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR
Shaykh
Hamzah Maqbul
Shaykh Hamzah Maqbul was born in California and raised in Washington state. He studied Biochemistry and Near Eastern Languages at the University of Washington, where he was active in campus life and served as president of the Muslim Students Association.
After graduating, he pursued traditional Islamic studies abroad, studying Arabic, Mālikī fiqh, Hadīth, tafsīr, uṣūl, and the Warsh and Qālūn recitations in countries including Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, the UAE, and Pakistan. His studies culminated in receiving an Ijāzat al-Tadrīs along with authorizations to teach and transmit major Hadīth works.
Upon returning to the United States, he served the Seattle Muslim community and worked with several Islamic organizations. He is currently the resident scholar at Ribāt, a center for learning and remembrance in the Midwest.
